Drawing from Saidiya Hartman’s concept of critical fabulation, Tula·Verse II: Sœurité creates space for perspectives that have often been distorted, silenced, or erased. At the center are Maria and Agathia, two female resistance figures connected to the 1716 uprising at Plantation Rif Sint Marie in Curaçao. Within colonial archives, they appear only in fragments — through violence, testimonies extracted under torture, or without even being named. What remains of their story when we no longer treat the archive as absolute truth?
Four female multidisciplinary performers carry this production. They embody not only the fractures of history, but also the underlying power of sisterhood: a network of connection, care, strategy, and resistance that has endured across generations.

Tula·Verse is a platform that commemorates the life and legacy of Tula, an African man enslaved on the island of Curaçao who liberated himself and led the Curaçao Slave Revolt of 1795. Our mission is to radically reimagine Tula's story and inspire others to fight for human rights and independence. Through digital experiences, educational resources, and community initiatives, we aim to honor Tula's courageous spirit and continue his legacy of resistance and liberation.
